In his seven years as President of Parking- Swiss, Alain Deschenaux has been able to make a lot of things happen and intro- duce new ideas. This is despite, or perhaps because, his professional background is not in the parking industry but in the commer- cial and real estate sector. As president of ParkingSwiss, his focus has always been on the needs of the parking customers and the added value for the association members. He has involved the municipalities, entered into cooperations and created expert com- missions within the board - to highlight just a few of his achievements. All this has con- tributed to broadening the membership base and enabling ParkingSwiss to face the future stronger and on the basis of a sound financial situation. It has always been im- portant to Alain Deschenaux to see parking as part of mobility and to face the associated changes, e.g. in terms of sustainability and digitalisation. Alain has remained loyal to the Fribourg region since his birth. He lives there with his wife and two children and is involved in many areas of business, public and cultural life. Giovanni Zen, Vice President ParkingSwiss Greeting by the new President I took over the reins from our outgoing President Alain Deschenaux at the virtual General Assembly on 20 May. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Alain for leading ParkingSwiss for seven years with dynamism and efficiency that allows our as- sociation to face the future with confidence. We pay tribute to his achievements in more detail in the article opposite. Parking management has evolved enor- mously in recent years. Changing mobility habits, digitalisation and the climate issue mean that we can expect major changes in the future as well. We at ParkingSwiss have to adapt our services to these new circum- stances. The next few years will be challenging. We will have to be innovative in order to of- fer new services (guidance systems, autono- mous vehicles). And we will also have to adapt our pricing policy to maintain the at- off-street of tractiveness parking.
